Feeding your children?

Well, I need some parenting advice, so I thought I would throw it out to all my friends who have kids! :)

What do you feed your kids for breakfast?

What do you feed them for lunch?

I'm finding that I'm feeding Ella A LOT of the same thing and am wanting to branch out. She doesn't quite use silverware yet, and won't let me feed her. So that counts out oatmeal, cereal with milk, ramen noodles, soup, and stuff like that. She isn't allergic to anything, either, that I'm aware of.

I usually feed her something along these lines:

Breakfast: fruit cocktail, scrambled eggs with cheese, mandarin oranges, dry cereal.
Lunch: raviolis, sandwiches, macaroni and cheese
Dinner: whatever we are eating, pretty much.

Any suggestions???

Also, when did everyone start having their kids use silverware? I've given Ella a little plastic spoon or fork with some of the meals, but she just kind of plays with it.

Share your parenting wisdom with me! :)

Davis is just a month older than your little one, he started using a spoon a few weeks ago. He used to just play with it but I started giving him one with apple sauce and yogurt and he did pretty good, you have to expect a mess but thats how they learn. I feed him for breakfast whole wheat ego waffles, yogurt, pancakes, cream of wheat, chunky cereals with milk (so he can pick them up with his hands) nutragrain bars, things like that. For lunches he gets grilled cheese, quesadillas, frozen french fries, taquitos, pb&j, cheese and crackers, chicken noodle soup, spagettios, etc. Its not always the healthiest stuff but you don't have to be healthy ALL the time. I buy the Juicy Juice harvest surprise or V8 Fusion juices becasue they have fruit juice and vegetable juice in them so if they're drinking that they are getting lots of vitamins. I hope that gives you some ideas!

It seems like forever since I had one Ella's age!!!

I'd say to keep giving her the spoon. She will catch on soon.

I LOVE that picture of her in the high chair. Hilarious!

I can't remember how old Ella is now, but here are things I started feeding the boys when we jumped on the solids band wagon:

yogurt, applesauce, pb&j (their absolute favorite) apples, carrots and hotdogs (all cut up into itty bitty bits and you could even cook the carrots a little to soften them up), frozen veggie mixes, pasta, toast with jam, fruit snacks, goldfish crackers, popcorn (when they were really little Zach would only give them the soft parts), raisins and craisins (they love these too), and any soft fruit.

As for when did to start giving them a spoon, just give them a little one with each meal and they will eventually figure it out. Probably not without making several big messes though. :)

Hope that helped. Good luck!

I wish I had some words of wisdom for ya, but we're not quite there yet- I hope you figure it out! But I'll be turning to you for advice when I face this problem in a year :)
